Are Mac's More Expensive than PCs?
Infinite Loop: Analyst weighs in on Leopard versus Vista sales
could we *please* put a lid on the “Apples are SOOOOOOO much more expensive” bs? It appears in every thread that deals with the Mac, and half of the ones that don’t … and it’s been debunked every time. It’s a troll, it’s wrong, and it’s boring
Let’s look at this for just a moment… yes, as you go higher-up the feature list, the difference in price between a mac and a PC lessens. But lets say that all you want is an entry-level notebook computer. Is there a cost difference?
According to apple.com’s page about the macbook, which is Apple’s entry level laptop, this computer starts as US $1,099. Let’s go over to Tigerdirect and see how much you can get an entry level laptop for. Wow, 127 computers priced $500 - $999. The starting price for a non-refurbished, non-open box computer is $599. I bought my wife an Acer laptop with a 14” screen for $499 last spring.
Hmm… so, if you’re a college student or someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot on a portable computer, is there much difference in price? YES! You pay double for a Mac.
Oh, wait but Macs are supposedly more secure and don’t get viruses or spyware (yet). OK, you can get the same thing on a PC if you install Ubuntu, which is free.

Umm, did you read that post
Umm, did you read that post back to yourself after you typed it? It’s contradictory.
I’m not arguing the topic, but the way you worded it you sound like you’re making the case for both sides.
Its a rant, and I was
Its a rant, and I was totally wrong. As discussed in “are macs more expensive than PCs” I show the math that contradicts my above rant. Macs are more expensive. :-)
