One of the extremely brilliant people I work with has spent a considerable amount of time [detailing the similarities between agile development practices and the open source model](http://ianclatworthy.wordpress.com/2008/07/09/announcing-the-community-agile-project/). He’s also created an open [community team](https://edge.launchpad.net/community-agile) to help develop processes and tools to further integrate the two (very similar) development models.

I’ve seen agile development practices work and can see the power in them. Getting started is the hardest part (and it is hard). Hopefully this effort will allow more teams to benefit.
