Who is Eliakim son of Hilkiah?
Who is Eliakim son of Hilkiah? According to Isaiah 22:19-21, it sounds like this is a person who would be the immediate successor to Shebna, who had displeased God. However verses 22-25 seem to cross reference Revelation 3:7-13 which describes the missionary church, Philidelphia, where Jesus says he will open doors and no one will be able to shut them. Is Eliakim Jesus or is Jesus in the line of Hilkiah? Why would the wording of Revelation 3:7 match the wording of Isaiah 22:22 except for us to draw a connection between the two.

Matthew, take a look at this site. It may assist you more with the genealogy of Jesus, http://mb-soft.com/believe/txc/genealog.htm.
To the other matters:
In this, Eliakim becomes a prophecy of the Messiah, because Jesus told us this passage spoke of Himself: These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens.†(Revelation 3:7) Jesus is the one with the keys of Hades and of Death (Revelation 1:8), who has all authority both in heaven and on earth. Jesus delegates this authority as it pleases Him (Matthew 16:19).
He shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut and no one shall open: Eliakim would have this kind of authority from the Lord. Since he is a picture of Jesus, we know that Jesus has the authority to open and shut doors in our lives as He pleases. We need to accept both the open and the shut doors!
In MAtt 16:19, as you have it stated above, it is mis leading of the truth. For it doesn’t say that Yahoshua, the true Name of HA Mashiach, was given complete authority to do as He pleases. It actually says ” And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt on earth shall abe bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shall loose on earth shall be loose in heaven.” to use this inthe manner you allowed for it to be presdented is to say if Yahoshua loosed hell on earth, so shall it be loosed on heaven and it isn’t the case. Fo if you had taken notice, the heaven is used with small letters and not capitalized. Therefore complete contrill ver the kingdom of Heaven and earth had limits. For the Abba Yahwah is and always will be the first and last word on any issue that is consummated in His Creation. For the Father did create the Son. Your reply to Matthew shows a lack of understanding of who Messiah Jesus was, is and ever shell be. The prophets and writers of the old testament as inspired by the Holy Spirit gave clues to who the Messiah was and what His Mission was. Eliakim was a type of Christ, just as Moses was a type of Christ in a specific role and yet this Christ Jesus was more than a man, more than an angel, He was GOD incarnate, not created, but eternally co-existent with the Father, who came to take away the sins of the world and redeem man from his sin and rebellion. No one else in human history was ascribed worship except God the father and yet Jesus received worship and readily accepted it. Just as Thomas the doubter saw the risen Christ and proclaimed; MY LORD and MY GOD in John 20:28, we too should ascribe and acknowledge Jesus Christ as our LORD and GOD, for; IN HIM DWELLS ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE GOLDHEAD BODILY. Col. 2:9 and Col 1:16; For in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers: all things have been created through him and unto him.
The best clue to finding out who Jesus is is search the scriptures with an open heart allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of who Jesus is.

Tom
Eliakim was the prime minister of King Hezekiah. It is no coincidence that Jesus quoted directly from Isaiah 22 when defining the authority of the first Pope. The Pope is the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of God on earth. It is also no coincidence that the only person alive today who fits the description of Eliakim is none other than the Pope.
I’m sorry Karl, but I’m not sure I’m seeing your connection.
Eliakim, to my understanding was entrusted with the highest authority under King Hezekiah.
Eliakim, I believe to be a type of Christ, because of the mentions to him being of the “line of David” as in Matt. 1, and “opening doors” as in Rev 3.
I’m not seeing the connection with the Pope. Is there Scripture to back up what Catholics believe concerning the Pope’s qualifications. Where did Jesus quote Isa 22 for the defining of the authority for the first pope?
Thank you for your response!

…”And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, He explained to them clearly in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.” – John 24:27
This passage is often looked over by so many – sometimes by Christians who seek to dismiss the Old Testament as being irrelevant in the Age of Grace, and sometimes by Messianic’s who agree to the see the Son of God but stumble at God the Son.
Christ showed His disciples where He could be found in the Scriptures – right from Moses through all the prophets: This is key – Christ is in the Old Testament, in shadow, type, and figure. Eliakim son of Hilkiah is one such Christ figure, as confirmed in Revelation.
The Lord uses names illustratively for His purposes, to reveal truths to us. Always look at the names of people, of places, and uncover their meaning. Names are very particular for Him, this is why He changed the names of people at times (IE Jacob – the deceiver (alt. supplanter), to Israel – the Prince of God). Changing a name proves the importance He places on such names. This is a key to Bible study.
Eliakim means “Resurrection of God” in Hebrew – or “God will Develop.” Hilkiah means “Portion of Jehovah (YHWH)”. In these two names, do we not see a picture of our Lord and Savior, who is Himself a portion of Jehovah, and God in Resurrection? He is a member of the Trinity – the Three-in-One – Have you seen this Elder Yonah?
Genesis (Bereishit) 1:
26. And God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, and they shall rule over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the heaven and over the animals and over all the earth and over all the creeping things that creep upon the earth.”
Let “Us” – “Our” image. God is not referring here to Himself and the angels, for the angels do not bear the image of God. The angels are spiritual beings who come in different shapes and sizes – and they are only His creation. He would not number the angels with Himself, for they were but servants of the Most High.
Revelation 22:8-9 “I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”
Brothers here, don’t let us stumble – for this we have in common: We call Jesus Christ Lord. I pray eyes are opened to the truth. And brothers, look not to doctrines outside the Word of God: for only to this book, the Bible, did Jesus promise preservation. Any other book of doctrine, any other “church” teaching, must be suspect. The Word is the pure Word of God… let it breathe life into you brothers.
