Google Talk is

“Google Talk is a simple and free way to talk with and send instant messages to your friends”
Hmm… a new instant messenging service. The good news is that it is based on open protocols. That is nice. Now, they just need to add white-boarding service in there; That’s such a useful tool. I’d use it more than the voice feature. You use Google talk with Gaim, which is the IM client I use, or any other jabber compatible IM client using your gmail login details. No ads, no pop-ups, easy uninstall.

Do we need another IM client? If this one is better than others, sure, why not.

I think I’m going to start pinging [RANDOM WORD].google.com domains to see if I can figure out what new service they’ll come up with next. Seems like they’ve just about got them all… maps, mail, im, news, caching, translation, searching, shopping… soon they’ll have a paypal type product. Maybe after that we’ll get a calendar/appointment service.
