Every Rose has its Thorn
Every Rose has its Thorn – I resumed my morning walks again today; my first walk in the new neighborhood. As I was walking I passed a rose bush and was reminded of the song, “Every Rose has its Thorn,” by some 80′s – 90′s rock group. It just so happens that I’m in the process of memorizing Romans 6 and was on the verse, “So, since we have been set free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Don’t you realize that whatever you choose to obey becomes your master?” (I memorize from the NLT translation) It occurred to me that sin sometimes looks pretty, like a rose, but there are always thorns.
I wonder why God made roses with thorns? Are they there merely as an object lesson of the hidden dangers lurking below sin’s allure, or do those flowers actually need a defense mechanism?
By the way, I’ve noticed that my blog could use a new template. Usually when I say this it takes about 4 – 6 months to get around to creating a new design. It will be interesting to see how long it takes this time.
