Kendall Payne – Music

Kendall Payne – Music: I’m not trying to write a hit and I’m not trying to write what I think everyone else wants to hear. For me, the process of writing is wrapped up in the challenge of coming before God and saying, ‘I’m here to be raw before You, and I’m here for You to change me and use me.’ I was listening to a song out of my cd-collection from a while back. Pizza hut was offering free cds through “CD-NOW” so I have a cd with “Supermodel” on it. Listening to the lyrics made me think that she was a Christian. Googling for her lyrics to that song brought me to the above interview.

I have a lot of respect for people who are willing to write the music they want to write or create the art they want to create or preach the sermons they want to preach. It often doesn’t pay the bills, in a secular sense, but when we look at it from a heavenly perspective, if we’re doing what God wants us to do we don’t have to worry about the little details. God works things out in fascinating ways. Maybe we don’t get to drive a fancy car or eat out at fancy restaurants, but we do have what we need.

My favorite quote from the song is:

Think it over once or twice
What lasts the longest in this life
Character, or rock hard thighs?

Here’s where I found the lyrics.
